The project aims to enhance cultural heritage across the local area, making artistic and cultural sites more attractive and accessible to visitors and tourists. The initiative is based on enabling technologies such as mobile devices, apps, Bluetooth Low Energy and wearable devices.
Innovative services were tested to provide guided visits and personalised content based on different visitor profiles, including adults, children, art enthusiasts and people with disabilities. Particular attention was given to improving accessibility for visually impaired users through an innovative indoor guidance service for cultural venues, combining BLE-based localisation, computer vision and assistive technologies with small tablets and wearable devices.
To encourage broader participation, the project also introduced dedicated tourist services through city InfoPoints and a free mobile app capable of sending push notifications about available cultural and tourism opportunities.
